Analysis of the match between Chelsea and Leeds United
Chelsea are aiming to extend their perfect run in the Premier League under head coach Liam Rosenior when they welcome Leeds United to Stamford Bridge. Since taking charge, Rosenior has led the Blues to four consecutive league victories, highlighted by a demanding run of London derbies against Brentford, Crystal Palace and West Ham, before overcoming bottom-placed Wolves.
That impressive sequence has lifted Chelsea to fifth place in the standings, just one point behind the top four and four points clear of sixth-placed Liverpool. A win over Leeds would further strengthen their push for a Champions League spot next season, although the task is far from straightforward.
Leeds have shown signs of improvement recently, recording three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five league matches. Notably, their victory over Nottingham Forest last time out saw them climb to 16th place, opening up a six-point gap over the relegation zone with only 13 games remaining.
However, Leeds’ biggest concern lies in their poor away form. This season, they have lost seven of their 12 Premier League away matches, collecting just seven points — a tally better only than Burnley and Wolves. Moreover, trips to Stamford Bridge have rarely brought positive memories, with Leeds repeatedly leaving empty-handed against Chelsea. Given the current circumstances, an away upset appears unlikely.
